ABOUT COLLEGE PARK HOMEBIRTH

College Park Homebirth (CPH) was founded after a family and friend reached out to assist with the birth of their third child. Our inaugural birth came on a snowy February afternoon in 2019. After that CPH began to serve other families who had strong connections with Midwife Jennifer. Since there is a definite need for home birth, services are now open for families in the DMV choosing to welcome their baby at home.

BACKGROUND & MOTIVATIONS

I am called to being a midwife. It is a part of my being and fully integrated into my life. I am a proud mother to four children earth side and two angels. I was called to become a midwife after the birth of my first two children, now teenagers. I am a home birth mother myself, having my last two children in the comfort of my home with a Certified Nurse Midwife.

I attended the University of Maryland, College Park for part of my undergraduate coursework, transferring to Washington Adventist University to complete my bachelor's degree in nursing. During that time and for a short period afterwards I worked at Laurel Regional Hospital to hone my nursing skills. I continued on my path to becoming a midwife by attending Georgetown University and graduating with a dual master's degree in Nurse Midwifery and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in December of 2011.

Starting early in 2012, I began practicing as a birth center and home birth midwife with BirthCare and Women's Health in northern Virginia. The guidance and experience gained there is undeniable. Wanting to expand my depth of knowledge and ability, I started working at a community hospital in the University of Maryland Medical System fall 2017. College Park Homebirth was formed in the winter months of 2018 and 2020 marks the year for full devotion to serving families for home birth in the DMV.
