ABOUT COLLEGE PARK HOMEBIRTH
College Park Homebirth (CPH) was founded after a family friend reached out to assist with the birth of their third child. Our inaugural birth came on a snowy February afternoon in 2019 in Southern Maryland. After that CPH began to serve other families who had strong connections with Midwife Jennifer. Since there is a definite need for home birth, services are now open for families in the DMV choosing to welcome their baby at home.

Meet the Midwife
JENNIFER ARGUETA, CNM

Midwifery isn't just my profession – it's my calling and an integral part of who I am. As a mother of five children earthside and two angels, my journey to midwifery is deeply personal. My calling to this work emerged after the births of my first children, now young adults. Having experienced home birth myself with my younger children under the care of a Certified Nurse Midwife, I intimately understand the profound trust and transformative power of birth.

My path to midwifery began at the University of Maryland, College Park, before completing my Bachelor's in Nursing at Washington Adventist University. While developing my clinical foundation at Laurel Regional Hospital, I felt drawn to pursue advanced training in midwifery. This led me to Georgetown University, where I earned a dual master's degree in Nurse Midwifery and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in 2011.

In early 2012, I began my midwifery journey at BirthCare and Women's Health in Northern Virginia, where I gained invaluable experience in both birth center and home birth care. Seeking to broaden my expertise further, I joined a community hospital within the University of Maryland Medical System in 2017. This diverse experience across birth settings ultimately led to the creation of College Park Homebirth in 2018. Since 2020, I have dedicated myself fully to supporting families choosing home birth throughout the DMV area, bringing together my hospital experience, birth center wisdom, and deep personal connection to home birth.
